Gaastmeer started in 1994 when Hans Ritzema and Heine Deelstra founded a design and consultancy company for yacht design. Both Hans and Heine have their professional roots in commercial shipping and professional ship- building. In the first few years, the designs - mainly classic Dutch sailing vessels - where drawn on the drawing board with paper and pencil. It was not before long that these tables were replaced by computers with CAD software. Also the activities changed over the years and expanded to the current diversity of projects, ranging from yachts and boats to workboats, cargo- and fishing vessels.

In the course of time our company has grown to the current team of six experienced professionals, supporting shipyards and individual clients in a wide range of projects on a daily basis. Our designers and engineers provide a large variety of services in the yacht- and shipbuilding industry.
